Lexi's New Song

As many of you know, random songs tend to find their way into my head. Well, Saturday morning was one of those random song mornings! The Lollipop Guild Song from "The Wizard of Oz" popped into my head, and I began singing it aloud. Lexi loved it and wanted to sing along. So, here is a clip of her singing to Gramma and Grandpa on the phone:

I don't know if you could tell, but she matches tones very well, as does Jarem. I am so proud of my little singers!! :-D

I also caught her doing her favorite thing: reading!!

25 Random Things ALL ABOUT ME

Rules:
Once you've been tagged, write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose some friends to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.
_____________________

To begin, I was tagged to do this on Facebook, so I thought I'd post it on my blog. I'm not tagging anyone specifically, so if you read this, consider yourself tagged! Here goes:

1. I love music. This really isn't so random as everyone I know, and even many I don't know, know that I love music. I guess the random thing is that I'd rather sing than speak. If given the opportunity to speak in public I will find a way to sing instead. :)

2. I have a headache every day of my life.

3. I want my own album and I am VERY jealous of my brother. There. I said it.

4. I have the 2 most beautiful and talented children on the planet and NO ONE can tell me otherwise!

5. I constantly have a tune or a song going through my mind, and since I can't sit still, I have to tap either the rhythm or melody out with my fingers or feet at all times. I'm honestly surprised that no one notices!

6. I hate snow.

7. I hate potty training.

8. I like to count things. I used to count all the ceiling tiles in school when I was bored. I still find myself counting lights, stairs, leaves on trees, anything to pass the time when I'm stuck in the car or something.

9. I cannot add. I have to do it on my fingers. :)

10. My favorite movies are very diverse. Here is a sampling: The Star Wars Trilogy, Ever After, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Nightmare Before Christmas, Anastasia...and I could go on!!

11. I am very afraid of dogs and spiders, but maybe even more afraid of being alone.

12. My favorite TV shows are General Hospital, LOST, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Bones, Pushing Daisies and I really enjoy watching the CSI shows and Law & Order: SVU.

13. I've always wanted to be a doctor...and brain surgeon, actually, but that is SO much school!!! My next choice would be a Marriage and Family Therapist. Maybe someday...

14. I teach piano, but I'd rather teach voice lessons and actually have a few less students and charge more money. ;)

15. I hate cooking. I don't really like to eat either, but, oh well.

16. I LOVE Diet Coke!! It's my vice and I LIVE on it.

17. I love to read. I am reading 5 books right now. I keep one in every section of my house and I pick it up when I have a few minutes, read a few pages, and put it down when I have to move on. I love it!

18. My favorite color is yellow!! It's so happy and pretty! I can't help but think of the sun and warmth and happiness when I think of the color yellow! Am I making you smile? See!? ;)

19. My first job (besides babysitting and being an onion picker for 2 weeks with Ryan) was working at McDonald's. I really don't like McDonald's and I wouldn't eat there if my kids didn't love it. The job that I had for the longest was working as a CNA at a local hospital. Sometimes I miss it.

20. If I had my dream job it would be to do voice-overs. I have always wanted to be the voice behind the latest Disney Princess (like Ariel...ah ah ah...ah ah ah...) :-D

21. I don't like to drive. It scares me. If I can get out of it, I do.

22. I value friendship. I love having friends...lots of friends and a lot of CLOSE friends. I feel like being a TRUE friend is very important and I strive to be that person. I love all of you, my friends, out there!

23. I want a guinea pig.

24. I don't like swear words. I think my favorite "swear word" to say is Holy Frijoles!! (holy beans!) or holy Guacamole!! (What is it with me and Spanish? I'm surrounded by it, yet I don't speak it!!)

25. Speaking of speaking...I've never been any good at learning another language because I have a hard enough time speaking English as it is!!

Thanks for reading my ramblings!! I hope you enjoyed learning a little more about me. I love you all!! :)

The Snowball Effect

This morning, when I had one free minute, I was skimming through the Educational Supplement that came in today's paper. It caught my eye because it's about Stress...which I typically have a lot of. Anyway, I saw this quote by Richard Carlson who wrote the book "Don't Stress the Small Stuff":

"A powerful technique for becoming more peaceful is to be aware of how quickly your negative and insecure thinking can spiral out of control. Have you ever notice how uptight you feel when you're caught up in your thinking? And, to top it off, the more absorbed you get in the details of whatever is upsetting you, the worse you feel. One thought leads to another, and yet another, until at some point, you become incredibly agitated. The solution is to notice what's happening in your head before your thoughts have a chance to build any momentum. the sooner you catch yourself in the act of building your mental snowball, the easier it is to stop."

This struck me because I DO this!! How many of us get lost in our thoughts until they spiral out of control, thus causing undue stress? Hopefully we can resolve to be more positive in our thinking this year and be happier because of it.

Sheet Music!!!

I totally scored today!! I've been looking for ways to find free sheet music, and I found two sites that I really like! For any contemporary songs that you'd like, check out my-piano.blogspot.com. I also found a site called Scribd that has uploaded music, articles, books...whatever your little heart desires! I created an account so that I have all-access...and I'm really glad I did!! Check them out; you'll love them!

Where Have I Been??

Yeah, okay, so it's been exactly one month since my last post...and that wasn't much of a post, was it!? We've been pretty busy with preschool, sickness, holiday stuff, sickness, normal everyday boring stuff, and did I mention sickness?? Ugh. All of us (except for Jason) have had Bronchitis; we all got the stomach flu (I was "blessed" to have it on my birthday); we've all had colds, and I'm still trying to figure out these migraines! Hopefully we'll all be well for Christmas.

So, here are a few select pictures of some of the Eastman's Adventures throughout the month of November. Enjoy!

Happy birthday to me! It was so nice to get together with my whole family (and you can see everyone here except for Jason who is taking the picture!)

Jarem and Lexi both like to dress themselves...here are the results... :D

A crazy hair day...actually, this is what she looks like every morning until I do her hair. At least she's happy!!

We got to go see Disney on Ice! It was so fun and the kids loved it as much as I did!
